Read how one of our members took her interest and hobby to a new level.
Florida native, Janie a.k.a. Calamity Jane, enjoys country-western dancing, camping and fishing, but her main hobby is to help prevent malware infections. After 20 years in the banking industry, Janie got tired of watching her fellow computer users get attacked with computer viruses and spyware that compromised their security and privacy. She's been educating people about the protection and prevention of spyware ever since, and is recognized as a Microsoft MVP (Most Valued Professional) (https://mvp.support.microsoft.com/gp/mvpawardintro) for her dedication to the industry. In July 2006, Janie joined Lavasoft - where she wears a number of different hats (including the red cowboy hat we've all seen her in) - from seeking out new malware for the Research Team, to helping PC users regain control of their computers after a difficult infection.
"My main job is the Support Forums Administration http://www.lavasoftsupport.com/. We have user-to-user assistance that allows users of Lavasoft products to ask and answer questions about Ad-Aware or malware in general among themselves. It is a great place for learning and exploring with other users and forum members."
"My secondary role is to assist users and malware removal experts in the "Help I'm infected" sub forums. In that role, I help users worldwide, remove difficult undetected malware, and gather undetected malware samples to submit to our Research Team to include in our detection database for Ad-Aware. This results in future protection for our users and helps us stay on top of the latest emerging threats."
What does she like best about working for Lavasoft?
"Working for Lavasoft is my dream job. Doing what I enjoy most and am most interested in is helping PC users learn to avoid infections in the first place, secure their computers and regain control so that they have a safe and happy computing experience is the most gratifying thing."
What does he like best about working for Lavasoft?
"Helping Lavasoft maintain a leading position in the industry and continue to provide quality security products for all users gives me a great deal of pride and job satisfaction. I'm very proud to be part of the Lavasoft Team :-) "
